Frederic Laberge

Fred Laberge got his BSc and MSc from Laval University in biology and physiology/endocrinology, respectively. He then moved to Winnipeg's Freshwater Institute of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, which is affiliated with the University of Manitoba. There he got his PhD in zoology. Dr. Laberge did most of his postdoctoral work in Germany, first as a Fellow of the Hanse Institute for Advanced Study in Delmenhorst, then as a research associate at the University of Bremen. Dr. Laberge was appointed as assistant professor of comparative neurophysiology at the University of Guelph in July 2008. Work in the Laberge Lab uses an integrative approach to investigate the neural substrate of behaviour in animals. Current focus is on how sensory input is integrated in brain regions that control behaviour in amphibians. For that purpose, behavioural studies of learning and olfaction are used in combination with investigations of anatomy and physiology of the nervous system.
