Comparative Biomaterials Lab

Welcome to the Comparative Biomaterials Lab at the University of Guelph led by Dr. Douglas Fudge. We study a wide range of materials made by animals, including nano-scale filaments within cells, slimes secreted to ward off predators, and large tissue-based materials like the keratinous plates of baleen whales.

 

Cardiac Protein Lab

Welcome to the Cardiac Protein Lab. This lab, led by Dr. Todd Gillis, is focused on the vertebrate heart and the mechanisms that regulate it's function. We are particularly interested in the proteins associated with the contractile element (troponin, myosin, actin etc) and how changes in these can alter cardiac function. This research involves a variety of approaches to characterize how changes in protein structure and function alter cardiac function.

Welcome to the Comparative Functional Genomics Laboratory at the University of Guelph led by Dr. Andreas Heyland (aheyland@uoguelph.ca). We are interested in understanding the evolution of complex developmental programs such as metamorphosis and neurogenesis. Wright Lab

Welcome to the Environmental Physiology Lab at the University of Guelph led by Dr. Patricia Wright.

 

We are interested in how animals cope with changes in the environment. Projects in the lab include exploring the versatile mangrove killifish capable of living in an extreme environment, the developmental physiology and micro-environment of trout embryos, and ammonia excretion.
